Questions, answered.
The things pilgrims ask before every departure. If yours is not here, WhatsApp us and a named person will answer.
How do we travel from Kathmandu to Muktinath?
In stages: Kathmandu to Pokhara, then up the Kali Gandaki corridor by road through Galeshwor and Kagbeni to Muktinath. The staged route is deliberate; it lets the body acclimatize and makes the corridor itself part of the pilgrimage.
How many people are in a group?
Never more than twelve pilgrims, plus the Bodha scholar-guides. Small groups mean no herding, no queues within your own party, and time at every site.
Who guides us each day?
Bodha scholar-guides walk with the group daily. Dr. Kul Raj Chalise convenes the yatra and leads its teaching, drawing on nearly three decades of research on the corridor.
Is this for a particular sampraday, or any Hindu?
For any Hindu drawn to Muktinath and the Shaligram. The teaching rests on the shared Vaishnava and Puranic canon. Dedicated programs for specific traditions, including Swaminarayan satsangis, are available for private groups.
Will I find a Shaligram of my own?
Many pilgrims do. At the riverbed you are taught how a Shaligram is recognized and what the tradition says about one coming to you.
How demanding is it physically?
Moderate. Muktinath sits at 3,710 metres, so the itinerary builds in acclimatization at Pokhara and keeps the pace gentle. Most people in reasonable health complete it comfortably.
Can elders join?
Yes, the yatra is designed around them. The ascent is gradual, mornings at altitude are unhurried, and the group size means nobody is left keeping up. Tell us about any health conditions at enquiry and we will advise honestly.
Do I need trekking experience?
No. This is a pilgrimage by road with walking at the sites, not a trek. Comfortable shoes and reasonable mobility are enough.
What food is served?
Satvik vegetarian meals throughout, every day, prepared with care. If you have dietary needs beyond that, tell us at enquiry.
Where do we stay?
In clean, comfortable hotels and lodges chosen by the family at every stop, Kathmandu to Muktinath. Exact properties are listed in the detailed itinerary you receive with your quote.
What does it cost?
One clear price per pilgrim covering everything on the ground in Nepal: stays, meals, transport from Kathmandu, permits, and the scholar program. You receive the full written quote within 24 hours of your enquiry. No hidden charges, no obligation.
How do I confirm my place?
Enquire or reserve online, speak with us, and confirm with payment. The full amount is paid at booking, and cancellation within one month of booking brings a full refund. After one month, payments are non-refundable, as rooms, vehicles, and permits are committed for your departure. Your written quote states the exact terms.
What is not included?
International flights to Kathmandu, your Nepal visa, travel insurance, and personal expenses. We are happy to advise on all four.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes, for every pilgrim. We will tell you what the policy needs to cover when you book.
Do I need a visa for Nepal?
Most nationalities, including US citizens, receive a Nepal visa on arrival in Kathmandu. Indian citizens do not need a visa. We send full document guidance when you book.
When is the best time to go?
Autumn, September to November, has the clearest skies over the gorge and the Annapurna range. Spring, March to April, is mild with rhododendron in bloom on the approach. We run departures in both.
