Walking the ground of Nilkanth Varni's deepest tapasya — with the scholar who has walked this corridor for thirty years.
A scholar-led path through the corridor Bhagwan walked — from Kathmandu, through the Kali Gandaki gorge, to the ground of his tapasya at Pulhashram.
The credibility of this yatra rests on one fact — the same hands that read the canon for Ayodhya will lead the reading at Pulhashram.
Dr. Kul Raj Chalise has conducted field research in the Kali Gandaki sacred corridor since the early 1990s. His work spans the geology of the Shaligram-bearing strata, the theology of Pulhashram in Vaishnava and Buddhist canon, and the cultural genealogy of the families who have lived along the river for generations.
In the months before the Ayodhya consecration of 22 January 2024, Dr. Chalise served on the scholarly committee that identified and authenticated the Dev Shilas taken from the Kali Gandaki for the Ram Mandir project. He publicly clarified, in the Nepali and Indian press, that these were Dev Shilas — not Shaligram shilas. The distinction, drawn from the shastras, shaped the national debate that followed.
Dr. Chalise accompanies every yatra in person. Daily readings from Satsangi Jeevan Chapter 44 and the relevant Puranic passages — on the ground itself, in the corridor where they were composed.
The Kali Gandaki corridor is high-altitude. The yatra is shaped for satsangis of every age — gradual acclimatization, satvik vegetarian meals throughout, comfortable accommodation, medical support on hand, no rushed days.
For mandir communities that wish to send a sant for the satsang dimension of the yatra, the arrangement is welcomed and coordinated. The scholar-led structure remains; the sant's presence completes it.
A 15-minute Zoom session for satsangi families — Anup walks through the yatra and answers your questions. What the corridor looks like, what the days hold, sant accompaniment, and whether this maha yatra is right for your family.
Thank you. Anup will email your Zoom invite within 24 hours.
Mandir communities, satsangi families, and karyakars are welcome. Tell us who you are and how you arrived. Anup Raj Chalise will write back within two business days.
Thank you. We will be in touch shortly.
